this sunday the services will be:
8.00am joint bcp communion at sullington
10.30am joint all age family communion at thakeham - rededication and gift day
with it being our rededication weekend, the service on sunday will be geared towards rededicating ourselves and our church to god's work in this area. we feel it's a hugely significant service in the life of the church, and we're hoping the whole weekend will be a great success as we look to the future and think about what we're aspiring to be within our community. there will be an opportunity within the service when a collection will be taken and hopefully people will have thought and prayed about what god is asking of them to give to his work, through our church, in this community. our gifts will then be collected, prayed for and dedicated for his service.
for those who don't know, 'bcp' stands for the book of common prayer which is basically a service book of extremely traditional language. it lasts for about 20 minutes, but it is really for those who just want a short quiet, traditional communion.
the main service this week is held at thakeham and will be an 'all age' celebration which means just that - we're trying to provide something for everyone, and of course everyone is welcome - we're basically aiming to make church relevant, interesting and accessible for all.
we'll be carrying on with our theme for the year - 'x-factor stories of the bible'. these are amazing and different stories in the bible that had the 'wow-factor'. we look at a particular story each month, then we unpack it a little throughout the sevice to see how it relates to us here in 2011. the idea is to make the service fun and relevant for eveyone - and hopefully we all get something from it.
